Due to the escalating haze conditions in Singapore, the performance at Under The BIG Tree on 24 October 2026 will be moved indoors to the SHHKCA Multipurpose Hall.
The rest of the fringe activities, such as workshops and games, will also be moved indoors and remain open to the public.

Event Description:
Under the BIG Tree returns to the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Cultural Academy, inviting families and friends to gather beneath its iconic tree for an evening of dance, discovery, and togetherness. Settle onto picnic mats and enjoy performances by SCDT's professional company, Performance Troupes (Children, Junior and Youth), and students from SCDT's training classes in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Round off the evening with carnival snacks, DIY prop-making workshops, and Chinese dance-themed games that offer fun, hands-on experiences for all ages.
This outdoor dance carnival celebrates the living spirit of Chinese dance and heritage, showing how culture flourishes not only on stage but also through meaningful moments shared by the community.
Entry
Privilege Pass holders may enter the hall from 6 pm. The hall opens to the public for free from 7:30 pm, subject to availability. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.
At S$7.00 each (excluding GST and ticket charges), you will also receive:
- One carnival snack (popcorn or candy floss);
- One drink;
- A lucky draw entry; and
- A game card, with a prize redeemable once all games are completed.
Curious about Chinese dance?
Join our Open House on 24 October 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, at our training centre at the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Cultural Academy.
From S$15.00 per participant (excluding GST and platform fees), guests can experience a trial class and meet SCDT’s instructors to explore courses for different ages and levels, starting from age three. Trial classes include Parent-Child Dance, First Step, Kung-Fu Dance, Graded Dance and Adult classes.
Participants who enrol in any SCDT course after their trial class will enjoy a waiver of the registration fee.
How to get to SHHKCA?
By MRT:
After arriving at Bedok Station (EW5) or Bayshore Station (TE29), you may walk, take a public bus or our free shuttle bus (from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm).
By Public Bus:
Take bus 10, 13, 14, 43, 48, 55, or 137 and alight at Bus Stop 94021 (before Sennett Road) or Bus Stop 94029 (after Sennett Road).
By PHV or Taxi：
Alight at the designated drop-off point within SHHKCA.
Drive：
Due to limited car park spaces within SHHKCA, we advise you to park at the paid car park near Bedok Station (EW5) before taking a public bus or our free shuttle bus (from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm).
By Shuttle Bus:
Shuttle bus services run between Bedok Station (EW5), SHHKCA and Bayshore Station (TE29) from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Departure times are indicative and may change due to traffic and weather conditions.
