Chinese Dance Fiesta 2022

23 to 30 April 2022

The Chinese Dance Fiesta is finally back this year with a series of programmes aimed to bring the local Chinese dance community together to deepen the public’s understanding and appreciation of Chinese dance while providing more performing opportunities for budding Chinese dance talents. 

The event will be held from 23 to 30 April 2022 with five dance performances and a Talk & Demonstration on Mongolian Dance facilitated by Ms Shao Ziwen, Senior Lecturer of Singapore Raffles Music College (Dance Department).

Chinese Dance Fiesta will be presenting this year’s edition in a hybrid format where audiences will once again be able to join us physically at various locations or enjoy our programmes from the comfort of their homes. At the same time, it is also glad to bring performances back into the community, where audiences can expect to enjoy at various locations including Our Tampines Hub, Jurong Lake Garden, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, and Ang Mo Kio Central Stage.


Audiences can look forward to a variety of unique works presented by Wu Yue Dance Studio Arts Troupe, Joyance Arts Centre, Hwa Chong Alumni Association - Dance Club, as well as SCDT’s very own company dancers and Children, Junior, and Youth Performance Troupes.

The Mongols are an East Asian ethnic group native to Mongolia, Inner Mongolia in China and the Buryatia Republic of the Russian Federation. The Mongolian traditional folk dance is a unique and distinguished art expression that has embodied and originated from the nomadic living style of Mongols.

If you are curious to find out more about Mongolian dance then you need to join Ms Shao Ziwen, Senior Lecturer of Singapore Raffles Music College at our "Talk and Demonstration" as part of Chinese Dance Fiesta 2022.

Speaker Bio

Ms Shao Ziwen, Deputy Head of Dance, Singapore Raffles Music College (Dance Faculty) graduated with a Bachelor of Dance from the Minzu University of China in 2012 and obtained her Master in Dance (Choreography) from the Minzu University of China in 2015.

She specialises in Chinese folk dance and Chinese classical dance. She also has experience in learning contemporary dance, ballet, and choreography.
