Chinese Dance Fiesta 2019

Experience the beauty and diversity of Chinese dance as Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre presents its Chinese Dance Fiesta ! Be mesmerised by dazzling presentations of elegant classical and energetic ethnic folk forms, featuring dancers from schools, tertiary institutions and dance companies in Singapore.

Chinese Dance Fiesta is an annual nationwide outreach programme organised by Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre with the aim to generate awareness and deepen appreciation for Chinese dance. In addition to the performances, there will also be a Masterclass and dance demonstration to introduce dance forms of the Yi and Yao ethnic people of China.

Master Series

As part of “Chinese Dance Fiesta 2019”, Ms Zheng Qiujing, Lecturer of Yunnan Arts University Affiliated Art School, is invited to conduct one session of Masterclass on Yi ethnic dance as well as two sessions of Lecture-Demonstration on Yi and Yao ethnic dance, in partnership of Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. 

Instructor Bio:

Ms Zheng Qiujing, a member of China Dancers Association, is a dance Educator of Yunnan Arts University Affiliated Art Middle School.

 

She has been teaching for more than 17 years and choreographed for multiple award-winning items. She has also being invited to several dance competitions as a judge.

Yi Ethnic Dance Masterclass

This masterclass aims to provide participants with a greater insight and deeper understanding and appreciation towards one of the world smallest drum, “Yan He".

The masterclass will be conducted in Mandarin and participants must bring their own set of ”Yan He“ (烟盒). Limited availability and pre-registration is required. Interested applicants should meet the following criteria:

Aged 15 and above, and must at least possess 5 years and above of Chinese dance experience to sign up for this masterclass.

 

Dance Lecture Demonstration

9 June 2019 | 3:00pm - 3:30pm & 4:00pm - 4:30pm

Esplanade Upper Concourse​

There will also be a demonstration with short performances at the Esplanade Concourse to introduce dance forms of the Yi and Yao ethnic people of China.
